The Academic Resources Fund is operated through the use of a debit card, thus making such funds easily accessible to all eligible members of staff.
Members of staff will be provided with a Bank of Valletta Visa Debit card. Whilst the debit card will remain the property of the University of Malta, each individual will have a specific bank account designated to him/her. The annual work resource allocation will be deposited in the debit card bank account in the first week of January. Members of staff can make use of this debit card both locally and abroad, including purchasing over the Internet.
Please refer to pages 24-32 of the Manual of Conduct & Procedures for the Academic Resources Policy and Procedure Guidelines. Members of staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with this document in particular Section 2.6, the ‘Conditions of Participation’ since strict adherence to these policies is mandatory. Rates of allocation can be viewed from pages 71-73 of the Collective Agreement.
To apply for the debit card, kindly fill the application form and call personally at the Office of HRM&D, Room 214, Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00noon, and between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. A photocopy of the front and back of the ID card is required for bank purposes. Please provide the copy of the ID card at this Office together with your application form.
It is expected that the Bank will provide the card to the Office of HRM&D within three weeks from the date of application. The Office of HRM&D will contact members of staff individually to collect the debit cards when these are made available by the bank.
