Markham Rae (Malta) Limited (Post of Risk Monitoring Analyst)

Markham Rae (Malta) Ltd provides risk monitoring services to Markham Rae LLP a London based independent hedge fund manager which was founded in 2010 and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Role:

Monitoring risk exposures of London based global macro hedge fund focused on Interest rate derivatives and currency trading. Recently the company opened a Maltese office in the Portomaso business tower. The new employee will be the second Maltese based employee and report to the Chief Operating Officer of the Maltese office. 

The first generation of risk monitoring processes have been developed over the past 6 months. The successful applicant will be actively involved in running, documenting, and developing version 2.0. Typical daily tasks -

1. Running reports that extract information from large database.

2. Running spreadsheets that analyse data, highlighting areas of interest.

3. Interrogating the database to focus on areas of interest.

4. Building Adhoc spreadsheets to analyse new data sets.

5. Presenting findings to London office.

6. Assistance with office administration.

Skills required:

• Logical and methodical with excellent attention to detail.

• Strong mathematical background.

• Initiative and self-starter.

• Ambition to work in finance.

• Communication: ability to analyse and summarise problems in a concise and clear manner, both verbally and in a written format.

• Business knowledge around Fixed Income (swaps, swaptions, futures), and FX (vanilla and options) is desirable.

IT systems:

• Excel advanced, multi line formulas, experience with macros.

• Experience with Databases / simple programming advantageous e.g. SQL.
