DESCRIPTION The Internet and the World Wide Web have revolutionised software development with multi-media intensive, platform independent, code for conventional Internet-, Intranet-, and Extranet-based applications. The aim of this study-unit is to introduce the student to the core technologies and concepts in use in this very exciting and important area. Topics include basic essential technologies, Markup Languages, Style Sheets, Client and Server-side Programming, Host Objects, Representing Web Data and Future Trends.

The second part of the study-unit deals with specific Internet Technologies to give practical hands-on experience to the students, Research papers will also form part of the course contents to ensure that the course maintains a high research academic standing.

It is assumed that students will have experience in programming.
