DESCRIPTION The dissertation study-unit provides each registered student with an opportunity to independently identify and investigate a research topic, considered by the Department/Faculty to be a suitable area of research that falls within the expertise of the allocated supervisor. The dissertation study-unit enables students to apply what they have learnt from the study-unit on Research Methods (ICT5901) to a research topic to develop a hypothesis, critically assess relevant literature, evaluate or test the hypothesis using a suitable approach, and present the findings by writing a dissertation in accordance with Faculty guidelines.

ADDITIONAL NOTES **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Presentation and Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.
