The University of Malta and Western Michigan University offer this multi-disciplinary, collaborative Masters programme to develop and promote understanding of crime and the social response to its increasingly globalised context.
The Institute of Criminology at the University of Malta and the Departments of Sociology and Political Science at Western Michigan University are thriving and internationally-renowned centres of excellence in criminology, sociology and public policy.
Teaching is inspired by the findings from cutting-edge research, helping to shape course content and keeping courses abreast of current debates on crime and criminal justice. See the proceedings from the Criminology Conference 2009 focused on "Migration: Criminological Issues" for a sample of the criminology and criminal justice studies practiced in the collaborative M.A. programme.
Learning takes place in a stimulating yet friendly atmosphere in which students are encouraged to engage in current criminological debates and to explore new thinking in group discussions and seminars.
Students who successfully complete the programme are awarded two degrees: MA in Criminology, Law and Public Policy from Western Michigan University and MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies from the University of Malta.
This full-time programme is delivered annually over three semesters starting in September.
