Curriculum
The Sustainable Environmental Resource Management curriculum presents three interlaced strands of study that provide
(1) a collection of analytical tools;
(2) an array of five themed case study-driven study-units (Agriculture-Food-Land, Air & Waste, Energy, Marine & Coastal, Water); and
(3) a policy-legal framework to inform the development of appropriate solutions.
The environmental areas addressed are critical in developing sustainable environments for humankind and each area requires the knowledge of fundamental science and technology, as well as policy and legal considerations that vary among countries and across regions, to craft viable solutions. Experienced faculty from the EU, the US and the Mediterranean, and world-renowned experts in the field will bring real-world experience to the classroom and engage students in considering the complex problems that arise in each of these areas. Students will support their solutions using a focused set of analytical tools to analyze and visualize data and to support decision-making. The students’ competence with these analytical tools, and ability to factor policy and legal aspects, will distinguish them from their more traditionally-focused peers.
