Ocean Governance is a topic of increasing significance and concern in the 21st century. The 1982 UN Law of the Sea Convention and other International law instruments are useful tools that safeguard the rule of International Maritime law. Notwithstanding their valuable contribution emerging international concerns, essentially based on the escalating crisis of unsustainability, instigate an urgent need to explore new trans-disciplinary approaches on ocean governance,. Evidently, a more comprehensive, legal framework is required to improve the manner in which States and their nationals maintain the rule of law in marine areas beyond national jurisdiction and in regulating anthropogenic activities affecting the ocean and its resources.....

MSc Conflict Analysis and Resolution
This dual degree program combines the faculties of two renowned educational institutions: George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, the oldest and largest programme of graduate conflict studies in the United States, and the University of Malta’s Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, which has been offering advanced degrees in diplomacy and building bridges between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East for the past twenty years. Energy, environment and climate change are topics of increasing significance and concern in the 21st century. Years of work in the energy, environmental, climate change law area have given researchers at the University of Malta and the Institute for Environmental and Energy Law (IEEL) of the University of Leuven an insight into the synergies between energy law, environmental law and climate change law. This is partially driven by the environmental and climate change challenges of energy generation, supplies and distribution. It also stems from the public law roots of environmental law, climate change law and energy law. Moreover, these areas are increasingly driven by developments at the international and the European Union level.
