Teaching Assignments 2012/13
Instructions
The teaching assignments may be carried out by teaching staff from the University of Malta. In all cases, teachers undertaking a teaching assignment must be integrated into the department or faculty of the host institution. Staff must hold an appointment by the University Council.
The list of placements has been drawn up according to the Bilateral Agreements that have been entered into by the University of Malta for the academic year 2012-13.
The standard application form must be signed by the Head of Department (or Dean of Faculty/Director of Institute in the case of applications submitted by Heads of Department).

Funding
According to the new regulations set by the European Commission, Erasmus Teaching Assignments grants are given according to the country in which the beneficiary is teaching. The grant will partially cover the expenses incurred while abroad. Therefore the applicant will have to seek other sources of funding to cover the full cost of the mobility period abroad.
Time spent abroad
Grants are awarded for eligible activities abroad (see Section Eligible Activities Abroad) which take place between 1 July and 30 September of the following year.
Grants are awarded only for eligible activities abroad (see Section Eligible Activities Abroad) which lasts:
- at least five (5) days (or at least five teaching hours)
Second grant
To ensure that the greatest possible number of teachers applied for under the institutional contract can be sent out, priority shall be given to teachers going abroad for the first time in the current academic year.
Eligible activities abroad
Grants are awarded exclusively for a period of teaching at the host institution.
The home and the host institution shall ensure that the visiting teacher’s contributions will be an integral part of a diploma programme of the host institution.
Priority should be given to mobility activities which will also
- lead to the production of new teaching material
- be used to consolidate and extend links between departments and faculties and to prepare future co-operation projects.
Applicants must submit one original application plus two copies to the International & EU Office, Room 105, Administration Building, University of Malta. Applications must be submitted by hand by not later than Friday 11th May 2012. Late applications cannot be considered due to the selection and funding procedure.
Replies will be sent to every applicant, indicating the budget that has been awarded.
