The Maltese Association for Physical Education (MAPE) was launched on Thursday, 24th November 2011 at 13.00hrs at the Institute for Physical Education and Sport at the University of Malta.

The committee is made up of Mr. Andrew Decelis, Ms. Lara Tonna, Ms. Nadia Gosney,  Mr. Godfrey Grima, Mr. Keith Bartolo,  Ms. Graziella Galea, Ms. Belinda Milton and Ms. Amanda Farrugia as members; and 3 university students – Mr. Aldrin Cassar, Mr. Christian Borg, and Mr. Julian Fenech.

MAPE aims to bring the Physical Educator together with the vision of strengthening the field of PE and Sport in our schools. The newly elected team on the committee made up of experienced teachers and lecturers in Physical Education along with its members, shall strive to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, skills and ideas amongst its members; to promote and disseminate good practices and local research as well as to set up working groups on specific and relevant topics aiming at improving the quality of the teaching- learning process.  MAPE also believes in fostering the professional development of P.E teacher at all levels of education as well as supporting the professional development of class teachers in primary schools. Last but not least MAPE aims to promote the importance of Physical Education as a means of promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Membership is open for all PE teachers in State, Church and Independent Schools, P.E Graduate Teachers currently not teaching the subject, Lectures in PE and Sport, ex-PE Teachers, retired P.E teachers and University P.E. Students.

NOW LAUNCHED - IPES SUMMER COURSES
The Institute for Physical Education and Sport, in collaboration with Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport, are once again launching three pre-tertiary certificate courses namely the Basic Water Rescue Course, The Foundation Course in Exercise and Fitness and the Advanced Course in Exercise and Fitness.
IPES Conference 2013
A conference on Promoting Healthy Lifestyles through PE & Sport was organised by Institute for PE & Sport (IPES), University of Malta on the 22nd February 2013 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa, Attard.
Foundations In Coaching Course February 2013
The Foundations in Coaching course organised by the Institute for PE & Sport in collaboration with Kunsill Malti għall-iSport was re-launched once again. 
Certificate Presentation Ceremony - Developing a More Qualified Sport Workforce
Thirty four students were awarded a certificate for their successful achievement in the various part-time courses offered in 2012 at the Institute for Physical Education and Sport.
