M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy (Mainly taught)

The M.Sc. course in Sustainable Energy is open to applicants with a variety of undergraduate degrees (subject to an interview), in addition to those in possession of a Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Honours in Engineering, Science or Architecture. Over 60 students have successfully completed this course over the past 10 years, and today many occupy important positions within the government and Energy industry.

The topics covered in the course include Renewable Energy Resources, Renewable Energy Technologies, Energy Efficiency, Energy Regulations, Policy and Economics, Energy and the Environment, Transport and Waste. Other topics such as Research Methods and Project Development also form part of this programme, which is organised in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of the Built Environment and the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development. The course provides candidates with a holistic picture of the interaction between energy efficiency, renewable energy, transport and other related topics that together make a more sustainable world possible to achieve. 

The course may be followed on a Full Time or Part Time (evening) course basis and is eligible for the MEDE ENDEAVOUR scholarship and the Get Qualified scheme.

M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy (by Research)

This M.Sc. programme is mainly offered to graduates with a background in an area related to Sustainable Energy. Research projects normally investigate the area of renewable energy and energy efficiency, covering topics ranging from new technology to policy, economic and environmental issues. Research topics in other areas related to Sustainable Energy may also be considered if an academic supervisor with the necessary expertise is available. 

The course may be followed on a Full Time or Part Time (evening) course basis and is eligible for the MEDE ENDEAVOUR scholarship and the Get Qualified scheme.
