Godfrey Baldacchino PhD (Warwick) is Full Professor of Sociology and Canada Research Chair (Island Studies), University of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown, Canada; Visiting Professor of Sociology, University of Malta, Malta; and Executive Editor, Island Studies Journal (ISSN: 1715-2593). He is a member of the International Advisory Board for The Round Table: Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs; Member of the International Advisory Board for Asia Pacific Viewpoint; Director for Global Islands Network (GIN); Vice-President, International Small Islands Studies Association (ISISA); Council Member, Islands Commission, International Geographical Union (IGU); and moderator of the island studies research website www.islandstudies.ca.
Professor Baldacchino has secured around Can$1 million in research funding since 2002.
He is the co/author of 19 books and monographs; and co/editor of 17 other publications, including Extreme Tourism: Lessons from the World’s Cold Water Islands (Elsevier, 2006); The Case for Non-Sovereignty (Routledge, 2009); and Island Enclaves (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2010). He was also guest editor of various thematic issue scholarly journals, including International Journal of Educational Development (2001); Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie (2004); World Development (2004); Geografiska Annaler (2005); Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship (2006); International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business (2010) and Space and Culture (2010). He is the author or co-author of some 80 peer reviewed articles and book chapters.
