Getting a University Email Address
All staff are provided with a University of Malta (UoM) IT Account. This account provides staff with a University email address and access to IT facilities and services (including IT Services workstations, printing, scanning etc.) and to other resources available on the University campus network. The University provides two types of IT accounts for staff.
UoM IT Account for Staff
Staff with a Council or Senate appointment and contract staff are allocated a University email address with the following format:
Name: John Borg
Email address: john.borg@um.edu.mt
The email address allocated is published on the University of Malta staff online directory.
The underlying Council or Senate appointed staff and contract staff can apply for an email address by completing the form UoM IT Account for Staff (ITS-F03) [PDF] and forwarding this to IT Services Reception desk:
- Resident Academic Stream (Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer & Assistant Lecturer)
- Research Stream (Senior Research Fellow, Research Fellow & Research Associate)
- Visiting Teaching Stream (Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Senior Lecturer, Visiting Lecturer & Visiting Assistant Lecturer)
- Affiliate Staff (Affiliate Professor, Affiliate Associate Professor, Affiliate Senior Lecturer & Affiliate Lecturer)
- Junior College Lecturer (Senior Lecturer II, Senior Lecturer I, Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer)
- Permanent Administrative, Technical & Industrial Staff
Note: Visiting Teaching Stream staff are being requested to
update their existing University email address to conform with the revised UoM email address policy.
UoM IT Account for Casual Staff
Casual staff are allocated a University email address with the following format:
Name: John Borg
Email address: jborg01@um.edu.mt
Casual staff can apply for a UoM IT Account by completing the form UoM IT Account for Casual Staff (ITS-F20) [PDF] and forwarding this to IT Services Reception desk.
Expiry of the University Email Address
Staff email addresses will remain active for the entire duration of service at the University. The notification of expiry of the address will be sent by email.
