The Institute runs an M.Phil/ Ph.D. by research programme. Proposals are accepted when they are related to the main areas of expertise within the Institute or in line with current teaching specialisms. These might include:
General aspects of Tourism Management, Culture and Heritage management, The development of niche tourism markets ie (Culture, Heritage, Arts, Food, Gastronomy, Wine, Religion, Sport, Adventure, Extreme Sports, Sailing, Cruise, Diving, Eco, Wildlife, Agro-Rural & Mountain Tourism etc ), Regional Tourism Development (Mediterranean), Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Planning – Design- Regeneration and Development, Tourism Impact Assessments & Analysis, Tourism and Communities, Tourism and Climate Change , Island Tourism, Coastal Tourism, Destination Management, Social Tourism, Education and Tourism, Tourism Economics and Politics, Tourism Econometrics, Business Tourism, Innovation Enterprise and Tourism, Tourism SMEs, Tourism Marketing and Branding, Events Management, Exhibition and Convention Management, Transport, Aviation & Airline/Airport Management,, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Risk and Disaster Management, Aspects of Leisure and Entertainment Management.
Candidates wishing to register for an M.Phil/Ph.D should initially submit a research proposal outlining the proposed research topic and proposed research methodologies. Guidelines regarding the required research proposal are available online. All candidates are expected to complete a research methods course once registered for their research.
