DESCRIPTION The study-unit will develop further practical heritage interpretation tools and situations which are essential for interpreters in their work in the cultural sector. It will also focus on some pedagogical and educational ambits through which interpretation can become more effective and down to earth.

Study-unit Aims:

- To consolidate knowledge and understanding of heritage interpretation in action, building on TTC3101;
- Bring to the attention of students international examples of cultural and environmental heritage programmes and projects;
- Direct students to structure effective educational products which can be used by various audiences: children, youths, adults, senior adults.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will:

- Be able to recognise and adapt to different audiences in the cultural heritage tourism industry;
- Be able to adopt methodologies and strategies in heritage interpretation work according to level of interest, age group and other factors relating to the audiences;
- Be more confident of what is expected of them as cultural operators and helps them to design, fine-tune and implement methods for a more enhanced, informative and educational experience which contributes to create a constructive and entertaining environment for tourists and visitors to heritage sites.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Communicate more effectively and efficiently through the right cultural heritage language for tourism purposes;
- Present focused written and/or digitised products which help understanding, and entertain at the same time - edutainment;
- Create their own structured presentations for cultural tourism;
- Become more effective representatives of local cultural heritage and the Maltese tourism offer.
