DESCRIPTION This study-unit deals with the history of education law in Malta since the times of the Order of the Knights of St John till the present day in time, the philosophies inspiring Education Law, international education law and civil and administrative law aspects of Education Law.

Study-unit Aims

This study-unit aims to teach to the student the following:

(a) the philosophies inspiring education law;
(b) the history of education law in Malta from the times of the Order of the Knights of Malta to date;
(c) the sources of education law;
(d) the text of education law;
(e) the international law dimension of education;
(f) the civil law dimension of education;
(g) the administrative law dimension of education.

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

(a) reproduce the main features of education law;
(b) locate Maltese Education Law through the various laws;
(c) explain the salient provisions of Maltese Educational Law;
(d) discuss educational law from an international education law perspective.

2. Skills:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

(a) assess the provisions of Maltese Education Law;
(b) write upon Maltese Education Law;
(c) evaluate the provisions of Maltese Education Law from an international education law perspective;
(d) review Maltese Education Law and examine obtaining case law thereupon.
