Welcome to the Centre for Literacy

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all colleagues, both Maltese and from other countries, who come into direct contact with our Centre.  Our Centre conducts both research and development work in the important area of literacy and other basic skills.   Our Centre has already played a vital role in national development in these areas of national importance and we continue to do so with enthusiasm.  Research and project work are important aspects of our work, however we deem to be essential the direct intervention work we do in schools and other educational settings.  We see this as an effective way of how the University of Malta can fulfill its commitments to the public and the community.

Our Centre has collaborated with various agencies and individuals to implement effective educational programmes. Our remit is very broad and we are interested in hearing from you if you feel there is a basis for collaboration.  We look forward to working with you!

Best wishes

Professor Charles L. Mifsud
Director
Centre for Literacy
