Department of Corporate Communication

Corporate communication is today increasingly considered a key function within organizations as it seeks to ensure integrated communication among the various stakeholders. In order to enable this, corporate communication seeks to manage relationships and communicate effectively with the various stakeholders. Therefore, it seeks to communicate with customers and intermediaries by collaborating with marketing. In communicating with investors, it interacts with financial managers and financial entities. When it comes to government, public authorities and regulators, it collaborates with legal and administrative professionals. To communicate internally with employees it partners with human resources specialists. All these activities require effective use of various communication tools available while also ensuring harmonious relationships with the media.

Effective corporate communication can provide various useful outcomes. These include a strong corporate reputation and corporate culture, a coherent corporate identity and a greater sense of belonging among all employees.

The Department of Corporate Communication* focuses primarily on post graduate education and research. The MA in Integrated Marketing Communication has been running since2002. For the first three cohorts it ran as a two-year, evening programme that was offered in collaboration with lecturers from various overseas universities. In 2008, the Masters degree became a full-time, one-year programme and a founding degree in what today constitutes the International Masters Programmes that are hosted at the historic Valletta Campus of the University of Malta. For the academic year 2012-3 it is being offered in collaboration with King’s College, University of London.

The Department also supports undergraduate teaching in Marketing  at the Faculty of Economics Management and Accountancy. The department also offers a research-based post-graduate programme in areas of marketing communications, corporate reputation and services marketing.
