DESCRIPTION This study-unit is intended to familiarize students with the various archival and record collections holding Malta-related material and which exist in Malta and elsewhere.

Study-unit Aims:

- To make students aware of the variety in research potential and in the richness of Maltese archival heritage, existing both in Malta and abroad;
- To expose students to different types of such archives, holding material from different periods and of a different nature.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Demonstrate knowledge of the different archives containing Malta-related material, both in Malta and elsewhere;
- Compare the situation of different archival and record collections relating to Malta (official, private);
- Gain knowledge of the different research tools available in such archives and their respective effectiveness.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

Describe, and critically appraise, by means of a presentation and a report, the situation in a given archive/s, highlighting what they consider to be its strong and weak points and suggesting ways in which such a situation may be improved.
