DESCRIPTION | This study-unit focuses on the descriptive cataloguing of monographs according to the 2nd edition of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2). It gives a brief overview of the anatomy of a book that shall help the student to recognise each part of the book by name during the cataloguing exercises. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims to trace the history of the cataloguing rules from the 19th century to the present day. It focuses mainly on the basic rules of descriptive cataloguing, with an explanation of the most frequent exceptions that one might encounter during the cataloguing process.
