| DESCRIPTION | The capability to communicate economic content comprehensibly is highly important. This study-unit is aimed at students who wish to deepen their economic policy knowledge. Following the recent global economic crisis, economics is more important and relevant than ever. Decisions on money, banking, interest rates, taxation and government spending affects us all, with global consequences. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit will provide students with a greater understanding of economics and help students write about local and international issues with more clarity and confidence. Many of today's issues including health care, income, the environment and foreign aid have economic implications. This unit will improve students' knowledge of economics as for them to be more adept at analyzing the policies proposed by politicians and advocacy groups and the public's responses to these policies. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: During the study-unit students will acquire hands-on knowledge of data for measuring economic performance and assessing the validity of economic arguments. Students will learn about accounting, corporate finance while staying firmly rooted in the journalistic process. 2. Skills: On completion of this study-unit, students will master a firm grasp of basic economic theory and institutions.
