B3: Printing and Delivery of Result Slips and Certificates

The chairpersons of the markers’ panels hand in their results either on diskette or as a hard copy. These are checked by MATSEC Support Unit staff against the record of attendance by office number.

Support Unit staff enter the grades obtained by office number in the results database and the entries are counterchecked against the original results.

The computer programme converts office numbers into index numbers and each result is entered against the record of the individual candidate.

When all the results are entered, result slips are printed for each SEC level candidate. The slips show the index number, the candidate’s name and address, the subjects and the grades obtained. Absences are recorded as ‘abs’. The result slips are posted along with information about request for the revision of papers and the supplementary session, including a timetable and dates of registration. SEC result slips are posted by the 15th July (Appendix B3.1 Sample SEC result slip).

A transcript of results is printed for candidates of the Matriculation Certificate and Advanced Matriculation single subjects examinations. The transcript shows the index number, name and address, and the grades awarded for each Advanced level and Intermediate level attempted. It also records whether the candidate qualifies for the Matriculation Certificate. Similar transcripts are prepared for candidates of Advanced Matriculation single subjects. Transcripts of results are posted by the 18th July along with information about the supplementary session and requests for the revision of papers as in para. 4 above (Appendix B3.2 Sample Matriculation certificate Transcript).

Individual SEC, Matriculation Certificate and Advanced Matriculation single subject results are sent by sms to those candidates who applied to receive them on their mobile phone. The sms messages carrying the results are sent at the same time that the results are posted.

Following the revision of papers of the May session, the grades in the results database are modified as necessary and this completes the May session of examinations. The certificates of this session are printed after the supplementary session in September.

In the case of candidates presented by schools, the certificates are sent to the schools for collection by the candidates. In the case of private candidates, the certificates are sent to the Examinations Department from where they are collected.
