| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit addresses aspects of organization and formulation of research proposals. To be able to criticise proposals, a proper understanding of the current issues in research is discussed, including the use of resources and availability of material, research ethics, quality systems, analytical and critical skills. In addition data analysis and presentation of data, both qualitative and quantitative will be addressed. Learning Objectives By the end of the study-unit, the student should be aware of the need of international collaboration to conduct research in the medical field and the methods employed to apply and obtain funding. In addition, efficient access to information is necessary and the knowledge to plan the research properly to be at the forefront of the field of interest. The candidate is expected to have gained a sound knowledge of Ethics that allows adequate use of resources and appropriate methods to achieve the required results. The analysis of results, presentation of results, and use of proper methodology is a requisite for successful research. Reading List Journals, e.g. Nature Methods; Biotechniques; BioMed Central.
