Presentations, video, discussion and announcement of the competition winners
in collaboration with The Factory Media Group

A Transmedia Storytelling Competition was launched last May. Participants were invited to write a story to be developed into multiple storylines according to the various media platforms used. The idea was not to present the same story in as many different forms of media as possible, but to allow it to develop in the way each medium does best. During the Transmedia Storytelling Evening, the teams will present their work and answer questions from the five judges. The stories will be judged on their creativity, style, language and innovation in the use of the different media selected. A documentary will also be presented showing the narrative of the competition. The winner or winning team will be announced at the end of the evening.

Judges for the Transmedia Competition:

Alison Norrington
Alison Norrington is an English author, playwright and journalist, and founder of storycentralDIGITAL. She consults to publishers, broadcasters and authors globally on transmedia strategies, participative experiences, production, architecture and planning, and utilising social media. Alison has written for WIRED magazine on transmedia publishing and runs various transmedia workshops and boot camps in London, New York and Europe. She commenced her practice-based Ph.D. in January 2009 researching Transmedia Storytelling in Publishing, and has presented at a variety of conferences, including Digital Book World, TOC (Tools of Change in Publishing) and others.

Alexiei Dingli
Dr Alexiei Dingli is a Senior Lecturer of Artificial Intelligence within the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta. He is also one of the founder members of the ACM student chapter in Malta, founder member of the Web Science Research, founder member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Malta and of the Gaming group at the same University. He pursued his Ph.D. on the Semantic Web at the University of Sheffield, UK. For four years, he worked as a Senior Manager in a large government corporation during which time he pursued an MBA with the Grenoble Business School in France specialising on Technology Management.

Caldon Mercieca
Caldon Mercieca has a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the University of Malta, where he runs a course on Critical Perspectives on Theatre and Performance within the Theatre Studies Department. Since 2010, Caldon has been a member of the Creative Economy Working Group, a joint project between the Ministry for Culture and the Ministry for the Economy. This has now led to a creative economy strategy for Malta, with a focus on education, financing mechanisms, internationalisation and governance. Since 2008, Caldon has been the coordinator of the Culture and Audiovisuals Unit within the Ministry responsible for Culture as well as a contributor to Malta's preparatory process for the 2018 European Capital of Culture.
