With the start of the academic year the Main Library on campus has opened its newly refurbished second floor, where spaces have been reconfigured to create a congenial environment, in line with fresh thinking about changing user needs. The area now offers flexible study spaces for group and individual work, with comfortable furnishings and a considerable investment in hardware. &lt;br /&gt;
The programme consists of five 2-hour sessions, which will be spread over five weeks and will be held on campus during office hours. One group will consist of not more than 15 participants so as to ensure interactive participation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The following topics will be covered during the training programme:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;using the right vocabulary&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;preparation before the meeting&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;note taking and summarising, and&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;presentation of minutes and agenda.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
A minute writing workshop will also be carried out.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Members of staff who are interested to attend are to fill in the form available &lt;a href="https://secure.um.edu.mt/hrmd/secure/appform"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt; and send it to Kristina Micallef by not later than Monday 17 October 2008.&lt;br /&gt;

Once again the Office for Human Resources Management &amp;amp; Development, in conjunction with the Registry Office, is organising three training sessions of 2 hours each on the &amp;#39;Filing System of the Administration and Students&amp;#39; Files&amp;#39;.&amp;nbsp; These will be held for recently recruited administrative staff, working throughout the various sections of the University of Malta.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The aim of these short training sessions is to provide members of staff with information on the role of the Registry Office, and guidance on how to efficiently carry out the filing of documents and keeping records of the movement of files. The sessions will also guide participants on the &amp;#39;redding&amp;#39; system of documents and the &amp;#39;putting away&amp;#39; procedure of files. Visits to the Archives will also take place. Training sessions will be held on 22, 27 and 29 October 2008 at the Registry Office in small groups of seven participants each.&lt;br /&gt;
