Chinese calligraphy is a form of aesthetically pleasing writing, or the artistic expression of human language in a tangible form. This type of expression has been widely practiced in China and has been held in high esteem by the Chinese cultural sphere. Chinese calligraphy was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009, and it is normally regarded as one of the arts in the countries where it is practised. There are several main categories of Chinese traditional calligraphy: Hsin, Tsao, Zuan, Li and Kai.
The China Cultural Centre (CCC) is holding a series of courses introducing the aforementioned Chinese Calligraphy styles, starting from the “Clerical Script” (Li) edition in October. The CCC is inviting Mr WANG Shuoran, who has been specialising in Chinese calligraphy research and practice for more than ten years, an excellent practitioner and instructor to deliver the 'Clerical Script' Chinese calligraphy course.
