A Resilience Curriculum for Early Years and Primary Schools Seminar
The Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health at the University of Malta and St Margaret College are holding a seminar to launch a resilience curriculum for early years and primary schools in Europe. The curriculum has been developed through a three year EU funded project coordinated by the University of Malta and including five other universities in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Sweden. It has been piloted with about 3000 students in about 80 early years and primary schools in Europe and translated in seven languages. The curriculum seeks to empower vulnerable students at risk of early school leaving, absenteeism, disengagement, bullying, social exclusion and marginalisation through a universal, whole school approach. School representatives will be provided with a copy of the curriculum during the seminar. The seminar includes presentations by a primary school at St Margaret College which participated in the piloting of the curriculum and a panel discussion by professionals and educators on other initiatives taken by the College to promote students’ growth and wellbeing.
The seminar will be held on 16 December from 09:00 to 12:30 at the main hall of the Office of the Principal, St Margaret College, Fortini, Vittoriosa. Attendance is free of charge but by registration only. The seminar is targeted mainly for school staff, educators and other professionals working with children in Kindergarten and primary schools.
