Elizabeth Linder has been with Facebook longer than 99.1% of current employees. She has spent her entire career in the California tech industry, launching her specialty in politics and technology at Google and YouTube before joining Facebook. Five years ago, Elizabeth moved from the Silicon Valley to London, where she has built out Facebook’s Politics & Government Program for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. This was the year of the so-called Arab Spring and the EMEA region was reeling amidst governments that were adjusting—or resisting—a connected global society. As Politics & Government Specialist in this fascinatingly diverse region, Elizabeth trains and advises politicians, government officials, diplomats, and civil society leaders on using Facebook most effectively to communicate with citizens.
Elizabeth’s talk, 'The Human Connection: Facebook’s technology and the global political dialogue' will examine trends in the politics-meets-technology space. She will also explore the ways in which her background as a French & Italian major at Princeton University has played a role in her ability to serve as one of Facebook’s most visible spokespeople and brand ambassadors with representatives of national government across more than forty countries.
