With the Annual General Meeting of the University of Malta Futsal Team having been held and the outcome having been extremely fruitful, members old and new are putting their heads together to finalise their 2023 Vision. This vision paves the way to long-term projects that will give more sustainability to the organisation.
The club is also working hard to digitalise their operations and strengthen their data repositories, task management tools and online presence.
In order to facilitate these tasks and processes, and ensure a smoother future for the clubs, there have been a few changeovers in terms of roles.
Mr Calvin Scicluna will be moving out of the Executive Team and joining the Technical Team. Three new members joined, namely Mr Zack Camilleri as Social Policy Officer, Ms Kelly Xuereb as Financial Officer, and Ms Karen Louise Stoner as Events Officer.
The newly elected Executive Committee is now composed of 13 members, an increase of two new roles to further streamline tasks within the club; those of Operations Director and Human Resources Officer, taken up by Dr Stephanie Dalli and Mr Nicholas Martinelli respectively.
These new roles are viewed as being integral to the organisation with the role of Operations Director making sure that the events office, social policy office, international office, and esports office are all interlinked to ensure a smooth running of events throughout the year.
As revealed by UM Futsal President, Mr Kurt Rizzo, for the first time in the club’s history, female members of the Executive outnumber their male counterparts, something which is “a positive step forward, especially given that we are part of the sports industry which is male-dominated. I hope that I will be able to introduce more females to this sport as I truly believe they can play a crucial part in our operations”, Mr Rizzo told Newspoint.
