Bank of Valletta renewed its support towards the Dean’s List within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta. The awards were presented to the six students reading for a degree in the Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) during a brief ceremony addressed by Professor Dominic Fenech, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta and Ms Joyce Tabone Manager Media and Community Relations at Bank of Valletta.
Students achieving A grades in a minimum of 80 credits during the first two years of their course are awarded a mention on the Dean’s List.
Thanking Bank of Valletta for its long-term support, sustained over the past years, Professor Fenech recalled that the Dean’s List was an exclusive list of students with the most excellent performance. The award was not a competitive one, but a measure against an established high benchmark of excellence. Therefore the growing number of students who made the list attested to an improvement both in the quality of students’ learning and in lecturers’ academic effort. He noted the diversity of the backgrounds of the students being awarded, both in terms of their former schooling (state, church, or private) and of their place of residence, which challenged certain common assumptions about schooling and location. He heartily congratulated the successful students and expressed his conviction that they had a very bright career future ahead.
Joyce Tabone congratulated the students for their achievement. She said, “At Bank of Valletta we firmly believe in the values of hard work and perseverance. Receiving a mention on the Dean’s List is no mean feat, however all the students who make it distinguished themselves for their extraordinary commitment to their studies. That is why we feel it is our responsibility and concurrently a privilege to support these students on their remarkable achievement.”
The students who made it to the prestigious Dean’s List were Bridget Borg (B.A. (Hons) Sociology), Ludwig Camilleri (B.A. (Hons) French), Jessica Muscat (B.A. (Hons) History of Art), Eman Sammut (B.A. (Hons) Maltese), Luke Scicluna (B.A. (Hons) Philosophy) and Charles Swain (B.A. (Hons) History of Art). These students will be graduating in November 2016.
