The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery will be offering a part-time evening Master of Surgery programme which will be spread over 6 semesters part-time evening and will be mainly by research with a 60-credit dissertation as detailed in the programme of studies available online.
This new programme would help prepare medical trainees doing their basic surgical or anaesthetic training to develop their academic and scientific skills. It would serve as a stepping stone to academia or also to higher surgical training, bridging the gap between the basic science and clinical fields of Medicine and Surgery.
This course is mainly targeted at applicants who are in possession of the MD Degree or who will be graduating in 2016 who are interested in specialising further and pursue a career in General Surgery or in one of the surgical specialties (such as Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Gastro-Intestinal, Colorectal and Plastic Surgery) as well as candidates intending to specialise in Anaesthesia and Orthopaedic Surgery.
