The Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science, is currently accepting applications for the Master of Science in Petroleum Studies, which is being offered again as from October 2016.
The programme is a full-time, 3-semester taught course and is ideal for first degree graduates in science and engineering who wish to enter or enhance their professional career in the upstream petroleum industry at technical, scientific and management level, or who wish to broaden their horizons to a different field of geoscience. It covers geological and geophysical theory and issues related to the formation, exploration and extraction of oil and gas, as well as commercial and legal aspects.
The course includes geological field trips both locally and abroad – in the last course, a highly successful 5-day trip to the northern Appenines was organised. Students will be taught by experts in the field, both local and foreign, and will have hands-on experience with using geological/geophysical equipment and modern processing software.
