The Research, Publications and Scholarship Committee of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing led by Dr Anne-Marie Callus recently organised an 18-hour workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, a research methodology based on hermeneutic phenomenology.
Dr Christian Borg Xuereb was central in linking up with and bringing over Dr Rachel Shaw of Aston University in the UK, who led the workshop comprised of three sessions: an introduction to IPA research, advanced IPA research, and supervising IPA research.
The Workshop was very well attended, following an excellent response to the call for applications which meant that there were more applicants than there were places available.
Participants included academics and students from the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Health Sciences; as well as practitioners from the areas of health and social care. The RPS Committee plans to hold this and other methodological workshops in the future.
