The Institute for European Studies and the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Arts, held the fifth of a series of research seminars, which focus on key issues in European and international politics.
The aim of these research in progress seminars is twofold, to increase the research output of the University of Malta by presenting the state of the art research developed by resident and visiting members, and to identify gaps where further research is needed to support policy.
The fifth research seminar was delivered by Dr Gisella Orsini, researcher for the SMSHealth.eu Erasmus+ program, based at the Institute for European Studies and the Islands and Small States Institute. Dr Orsini presented a paper entitled 'Access to Medicines in small states of Europe'. The main findings indicated that cooperation, transparency and the effectiveness of national local policies would be key to increase access to medicines in the context of small states. Dr Stefano Moncada, lecturer at the Institute for European Studies, acted as the main discussant, highlighting the importance of such papers, where information is still scarce and where research can guide policy to improve overall standards in the access to medicine.
The upcoming research seminar will feature research on the Constitutional architecture for Europe, and it will be delivered by Dr Christopher Pollacco on 10 May. Further details can be found online.
