Together for sustainable mobility, this is the slogan of the CAMP-sUmp project, designed with the aim to improve mobility in the Mediterranean area.
CAMP-sUmp is a project for the promotion of low-carbon strategies and energy efficiency, co-funded with the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg Med program.
Thanks to the active collaboration between the Foundation Magna Graecia, the project leader, and the Universities of Athens, Valencia, Cyprus, Split, Malta and Bologna, the first phase of the European project has been implemented. In fact, each university involved organized a local meeting with representatives of local, regional and national public administrations, service operators, transport agencies, mobility managers, university staff and other stakeholders.
One of the CAMP-sUmp objectives, is to facilitate the dialogue between users of transport services, with a focus on universities, and decision-makers in order to design a common plan for the mobility of university students in the urban context. During the meetings, several tools were used to analyze critical issues and actions to be undertaken to improve the current situation.
During the meetings, questionnaires submitted to students, representatives of local institutions involved, public and private transport agencies and university staff to find out any critical issues and interviews were conducted to determine the actions to be taken to improve the current situation.
After this first phase dedicated to context study and analysis, project partners, with the support of the transnational working group, will draw up a mobility plan combining innovation and sustainability.
In fact, the CAMP-sUmp project will develop an action plan that will be brought to the attention of policy makers to help them in planning a low-impact mobility system.
