The Faculty of Education from this October 2017 is offering new Master in Teaching and Learning (MTL) in a number of vocational subjects. The Master degree is a two-year full-time course which will enable graduates to teach vocational subjects which have been introduced in secondary education and are part of the government’s ‘My journey’ education reform.
Vocational Subjects on offer
The following MTL courses in vocational subjects are on offer:
- Agribusiness
- Engineering Technology
- Health and Social Care
- Hospitality
- Hairdressing and Beauty
- Information Technology
- Media Literacy
- Retailing
- Textiles and Fashion.
All vocational subjects shall be offered with an education-related subsidiary area, among which Digital Literacy or Technology Enhanced Learning.
Entry Requirements
To join the teaching profession one must obtain a first degree (MQF level 6) in a related Vocational Education and Training (VET) subject-area or in an area which is considered equivalent to the chosen vocational area of specialisation. This first degree may be obtained through courses offered by University of Malta, MCAST or ITS. Other qualifications will also be considered, including those achieved from other institutions, as long as they are equivalent to a first degree offered by the University.
