Help people smile better by becoming a dental assistant. Join the Preparatory Course for Diploma in Dental Surgery Assistance. The course commences on 1 November 2017 and lasts one year.
The Preparatory Course deals with the basis relating to the normal functioning and general pathology of the human body. An introductory to behavioural sciences, basic dental information, principles of sterilisation and disinfection techniques, an insight into the facts of dental instrumentation and equipment commonly found in a dental clinic set-up, as well as elements of public health and clinical ethics will be tackled during this Preparatory Course. Students who successfully complete the Preparatory Course will then be eligible to proceed to the Diploma Course which spans over one year of full-time study and includes a practice placement during the summer period. During the Diploma Course, students will further develop intellectually by focusing on oral and dental disease and the various disciplines in dentistry will be discussed in detail. The Diploma Course will then enable students to attain and refine their intellectual and clinical proficiency so as to allow them to seek direct employment or further studies, after completion of the course.
