A call is being made for researchers, academics, SMES and public entities based in Malta to participate in new COST actions which have just been published.
COST is an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in Science and Technology, allowing the coordination of nationally-funded research on a European level. It anticipates and complements the activities of H2020, constituting a 'bridge' towards the scientific communities of emerging countries. It also increases the mobility of researchers across Europe and fosters the establishment of scientific excellence in areas ranging from humanities to basic sciences.
The list of new actions can be found online.
COST actions are thus 'bottom-up' approaches to research and will facilitate networking, training schools and short term scientific missions and other events. There is very simple administration involved. COST does not have funds for research as such but researchers are reimbursed for expenses in conjunction with attendance and flights to COST meetings. It also leads to excellent contacts and can also lead to preparation for future grant proposals eg as in H2020. It is particularly suitable for young researchers as well.
