As part of the Horizon 2020 funded TrainMALTA project at the University of Malta, there is an opportunity for fully sponsored training visits to the University of Cambridge (UCAM) and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven).
At the host institutions, participants will integrate within the Ouwehand Group at UCAM or the Platelet Biology Research group at KU Leuven and participate in all aspects of research activities (seminars, journal clubs, laboratory work and meetings within that group). The aim of these exchanges is to provide hands-on experience in the areas listed below which can then be brought back to the UoM and disseminate amongst other active researchers. A second aim of these exchange visits is to promote networking in view of future collaborations.
Up to two participants can attend each training visit which will span 4-6 weeks during the coming months. Exchange visits are being offered in the following 4 areas:
- Bioinformatics and Data Analysis at UCAM
- Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) at UCAM
- Functional work in Zebrafish at KU Leuven
- Epigenomics at UCAM.
To be eligible, applicants must be postgraduates or staff of the University of Malta.
Interested applicants must submit the following to TrainMALTA by email:
- a short paragraph covering their current or upcoming research and what they hope to gain from the exchange
- a brief curriculum vitae.
On their return, all participants who benefit from these exchanges are expected to write a report summarising what was covered during the training visit and be available to assist others who may want to try out the techniques learnt during the visit.
The deadline to submit your expression of interest is 28 April, 2017.
For more information about these visits, email TrainMALTA or visit the project website.
