The 4th International Congress on Biodiversity entitled 'Man, Natural Habitats and Euro-Mediterranean Biodiversity' will be hosted by the Entomological Society of Malta (ESM), an NGO linked mainly with the study of insects and related organisms. The President of the ESM is Prof. David Mifsud, an Associate Professor at the Institute of Earth Systems of the University of Malta.
This Conference is a new opportunity for scientific debate among university researchers, students, scholars, members of scientific and environmental associations, environmental NGOs, Government agencies and Environmental Authorities, managers of protected areas and those involved in environmental education and management.
The Conference aims to focus on:
- plant and animal biodiversity
- ecology of terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems
- protected areas and their management
- invasive alien species and their impact on indigenous biodiversity
- involvement of the civil society for a sustainable use of natural resources.
The Conference also intends to strengthen cooperation and international friendship already achieved in previous meetings held in Palermo (2011), Cefalù-Castelbuono in Sicily (2014) and Noto in Siracusa (2015). The goal is to extend collaboration between the scientific community.
The conference proceedings will be published, both printed and online, in the following journals: Bulletin of the Entomological Society of Malta and Biodiversity Journal. Those interested are strongly urged to create poster presentations.
Deadline for submission of abstracts
The programme for the second and third days of the congress is being compiled. Those interested is attending and actively participating are kindly asked to submit abstracts for both poster presentations and oral communications by not later than 30 July 2017 to Prof. David Mifsud.
Conference venue
The Conference will be held in Malta. The official language will be English. The opening session is scheduled for Friday 17 November at 13:30 at Sala Antoine de Paule in Sant Anton Palace, Attard under the Patronage of H.E. The President of Malta. On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November the conference will be held at the Paradise Bay Resort Hotel where the foreign delegates will be residing.
Registration
The registration fee is EUR 50. The fee includes participation to all plenary lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions; two congress dinners (excluding drinks) on the 17 and 18 of November, one lunch (excluding drinks) on the 18 of November and four coffee breaks.
