European Access Network The European Access Network recently held its 8th annual convention in Malta on the theme: Changing the Culture of the Campus: Towards an Inclusive Higher Education. EAN is the only Europe wide, non governmental organisation that widens access to higher education. It promotes access for under-represented groups. Reasons for under representation may include: gender, ethnic origin, nationality, sexuality, age, disability, employment status, income level, family background, vocational training, geographic location or earlier educational disadvantage. Membership is open to all those with an interest in widening access to marginalised groups.
The University of Malta is a member of the Network. It is striving to create the necessary mechanisms that will allow qualified and motivated persons access to a university education, other than the traditional sixth form route.
