Lectures in Criminal Law by Visiting Professor Professor Arnold Enker, from Bar-Ilan University at Ramat Gat, Israel, will be in Malta between the 31st January and the 3rd February, 2000, as guest of the Department of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Laws. Professor Enker is Professor of Law and Founding Dean of the Yaacov Herzog Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan. He was formerly Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota (U.S.A.) and Lecturer at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies in Austria. He also runs the Institute for Research in Comparative Law at the Yaacov Herzog Faculty of Law.

Professor Enker will be having talks with officials from the International Office and with members of the Faculty of Laws to explore the possibility of further co-operation between the two universities and their respective faculties of law. He will also be delivering the following lectures intended primarily for students:
"Fifty Years of Growth in Israeli Criminal Law": Tuesday 1 February, at 2.00 p.m., Lecture Theatre 2 (Francis Ebejer Hall);
 "Necessity and Duress as Defences in Criminal Law": Wednesday 2 February, at 10.00 a.m., Arts Lecture Theatre (Pietru Pawl Saydon Hall).
