International Conference on Medical History An international conference entitled "La Storia della Medicina come Ponte Culturale nel Bacino del Mediterraneo" will take place next week at the Foundation for International Studies in Valletta. The packed programme includes papers by nineteen scholars from universities and health care institutions all over Italy and in Malta.

The two-day conference starts on Friday, 19 October at 1630hrs with welcome addresses by Professor Roger Ellul-Micallef, Rector of the University of Malta and by Professor Francesco Leoni, Rector of Università degli Studi "S. The conference is being organised by the University's Foundation for International Studies; the Università degli Studi "S. Pio V", Rome and the Società Italiana di Storia delle Scienze Biomediche e delle Istituzioni Sanitarie of Italy. The academic co-ordinator is Dr Charles Savona Ventura.
