Orientation for International Students at the University of Malta

27th/28th September 2001

Around 200 new students recently took part in a two-day University orientation programme. The Director of the International Office, Mr L.N. Agius, delivered a welcome address on behalf of the University and gave an introduction to life on campus. There were informative talks by the Principal Communications Officer, the Immigration Officer and representatives of various religions, as well as by a doctor.  The President of the Student Council (KSU) and of the International Studentsí Association (MISA) gave the new students some advice about how to get the most out of their stay, both on and off campus.  The international students who are already studying in Malta joined the freshers during orientation and were encouraged to share their experiences with them.

On Thursday, the students went on a guided tour of the Three Cities and Mdina sponsored by MTA, while on Friday, they enjoyed an afternoon at Paradise Bay.  A Welcome Party at the Artisan Market at Bay Street, Paceville was very well attended by international students and Maltese students alike.

Sponsors of the Orientation Programme were MTA, NSTS Student and Youth Travel on Campus and the University Residence.
