CBM Award for Outstanding Dissertations The Economics Department of the University of Malta is collaborating with the Central Bank of Malta in awarding the Central Bank of Malta Prize for outstanding research work presented in student dissertations.  This year the prize was awarded to Mr Karl Montfort, Ms Nadia Farrugia and Ms Stephanie Bugeja.

During the award ceremony, Mr Michael Bonello, the Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration between the CBM and the University.  Apart from this award, the two entities also collaborate in offering courses for CBM staff and in organising research seminars at the Central Bank.   The first seminar, on the theme: Country Risk and Interest Rate Spread: an empirical analysis for Malta, by Mr Karl Montfort, was very well attended and showed that there is considerable interest in serious research work. Professor Darmanin, also present at the ceremony, thanked Mr Bonello for his continued interest in the work of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.   Professor Briguglio announced that the Central Bank Prize will be given on an ongoing basis and that early next year the Faculty will organise a conference in which the best dissertations will be presented.
