INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS CONFERENCE ON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, MALTA, 13TH -14TH NOVEMBER 2002

The Mediterranean Masters in Human Rights and Democratization is pleased to announce the holding of an international conference on Human Rights and Corporate Social Responsibility, which will be held at the Foundation for International Studies in Valletta on the 13th and 14th November 2002.  Various speakers from as far apart as South Africa, Sweden, Israel and Australia will be making interventions.

Corporations today have assumed a significant role on the global stage since society at large looks to them for answers to contemporary social and economic issues.  This is due, at least in part, to the increasingly diminishing role of Governments in international business, owing to the expansive growth of globalisation of commerce.

The conference will explore the link between good governance and economic growth.  It will focus on the role of corporations in increasing the quality and extent of social and economic concerns, thereby supporting international human rights, labour and environmental standards.

This conference should be of interest to members of the legal profession, human resource managers, students of law, management and public policy, trade unions and members of non-governmental organisations.
