Youth Exchange Project

EYiE of Horus

The Youth Section of the Caritas Malta Epilepsy Association has obtained EU funding to host a Youth Exchange Project in Malta next week from 31 August to 8 September 2003.     This project, called The EYIE of Horus, shall create an international forum of 40 youths from 10 countries and is being carried out in collaboration with the EYiE (Epilepsy Youth in Europe) and IBE (International Bureau for Epilepsy) and the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Malta.  Its aims are to explore what it is like to be a youth with epilepsy in Europe, what it means to European society at large and how to tackle the multicultural social exclusion these youths often experience.     The workshops and cultural activities around various historical sites in Malta forming part of this project will be of help to the participants in order for them to develop their character, expand their knowledge about the condition and our country and gain various skills.

In this respect, Maltese youths between the ages of 18 and 30, who have this condition, are invited to join the group for an afternoon together, meeting young persons from all over Europe on Monday 1st September 2003.  This will give them the opportunity to meet foreign youths with this condition, share experiences and exchange ideas.    All those interested can contact Dr Janet Mifsud on janet.mifsud@um.edu.mt or phone 23402845.  Further information about the EYIE project can be found at http://www.eyie.org while information about epilepsy and our association can be found at www.caritasmalta.org.

This event is very kindly supported by HE the President of the Republic of Malta, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth, Arts and Sports, EUPU, Ministry of Gozo, Heritage Malta, Caritas Malta, Galaxy Hotel Malta, University of Malta, Go Mobile, Malta Tourism Authority Consolidated Biscuits, General Soft Drinks Malta Ltd, Rokna Pizzeria, Veduta Pizzeria, Mdina Glass, Jolico Ltd Malta, Collis Williams Ltd, Gozo Channel Ltd, and Marsovin Ltd.
