The Islands and Small States Institute, through its Observatory for Sustainability Indicators (SIMO) will be organising an international conference on Sustainability Indicators. The themes of the conference will include:
1. Purpose, coverage and applicability of  sustainability indicators
2. Methodology of constructing sustainability indicators
3. Focus on the different aspects of sustainability (e.g. environmental, social and economic)
4. Sustainability indicators in the Mediterranean region
5. Sustainability indicators and small islands
6. International agencies/organisations promoting sustainability indicators

The conference will be held at the Foundation for International Studies on 6 to 8 November 2003. The fee for Maltese participants will be Lm50, covering participation at the conference, documentation, refreshments during coffee break, lunches on the three days of the conference, and final dinner.
