Malta Geomorphology Group
A geomorphological research group is going to be set up with the aim of
promoting geomorphology as an academic discipline and recognise geomorphological
research which is being undertaken within a local context. There
will be the opportunity to bring together academics, professionals, graduate
and undergraduate students who are interested in geomorphology and other
related earth sciences, such as geology, engineering geology, pedology and
hydrology. It is planned that in the future the group will organise
events such as seminars, workshops and conferences to further disseminate
geomorphological knowledge.
The group will be approved as a National Scientific Member of the International
Association of Geomorphologists (IAG). The IAG is a scientific, non-governmental
and non-profit organisation, whose principal objectives are development and
promotion of geomorphology as a science through international co-operation
and dissemination of knowledge of geomorphology. Membership of the IAG is
normally by countries. At present, 58 countries are affiliated to the IAG
through their National Scientific Members. Further information on IAG can
