The Festival will run between Monday the 9th and Saturday the 14th of May. It will open with a seminar entitled ìBaroque Connectionsî, organized by the International Institute for Baroque Studies at the University of Malta with talks by Professor Denis de Lucca and Maestro Joseph Vella on Baroque Music, to be held at the Music Room, St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity on Monday 9th at 6.30pm, to which all are welcome.
Two brilliant ensembles will be performing at the Manoel during the week: Florilegium, one of Britainís most outstanding period instrument ensembles will focus on the Italian contribution to the Baroque, will perform music by Uccellini, Corelli, Vivaldi, Gabrieli, Rossi, Frescobaldi and Locatelli on Tuesday May 10th at 7.30pm.
On the other hand, the Ensemble Europeen William Byrd, composed of some of the best solo singers of Baroque and Renaissance music in France, will explore the French chansons and airs du cour as well as selections of sacred music, on Saturday May 14th at 7.30pm.
