Conference on the Lisbon Agenda and the National Reform Programme The Economics Department of the University of Malta, together with the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications will be organising a conference on the Lisbon Agenda, the National Reform Programme, and the Promotion of Competitiveness at the Foundation for International Studies. The event will be held on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th October 2005. This will be a sequel to the conference on Competitiveness held in May 2003 at the Radison Hotel.

The conference will be addressed by 4 keynote speakers. There will also be four panel sessions on the following themes:
1. "The Overarching Role of Government in Promoting Competitiveness"
2. "Fostering Entrepreneurship and Promoting Investment"
3. "Balancing Wage Rates and Productivity and Promoting Employment"
4. "Social Cohesion, Environmental Protection and Competitiveness: Synergies and Conflicts"

Members of staff of the University of Malta are cordially invited to attend. Participation is free of charge.
